Introduction.

The Universe is big.
The Universe has differing physical structure over a range of distances that exceed 1040. This is a staggering number; by comparison, the total number of people on the Earth today is considerably less than 1010; the total estimated number of stars in the observable Universe is only something like 1022.
From quarks to atoms to bacteria to people to stars to galaxies to superclusters, all these scales intermix and fade into one another. Here, we can examine them.
