War.
Battles have been fought
Wars have been won and lost
But none like this
Bodies litter the battleground
Like so many discarded dolls
Waiting for the new model

The town is ruined Buildings are turned into rubble And rubble is turned into dust The city sidewalks are shattered And a red stream runs everywhere Into the gutters, into the houses

There are survivors Here and there, hiding They are smart, cunning To survive this long The battle is over But the pain is not

The survivors creep out Of the cracks in the alleyways To begin a new life They have to start over The fighting is over But their fighting is not

The red stream runs everywhere Into the houses, onto the lawns And out of all the destruction Comes new life The next generation of plants Will be healthy
